Bless the Weather (it's lovely)
In these humid summer climes, and with the hottest day of the year scheduled for Friday, it seems appropriate to offer a reminder of times (is this rhyming?) past, times when the weather was not so pleasant - like February. And March!
I remember one unemployed day, walking from Euston to Angel and farther north, then from Islington eventually south past Monument to the Tate Modern and home again, and feeling as though my brain had frozen to the inside of my skull. Numb!
Some days the flat was surrounded by snow, other days it rained, but mostly it was just very, very cold! Luckily, the Ghetto has it's own master insulation - the fact that on each side of the flat, we are surrounded by other flats. Since everyone's keeping warm, it's almost as if Woodhall could be described as one huge Aga. Or something like that...
And then there was the night lightning hit... as we watched Seinfeld inside... although I think this was sometime in June! British weather, eh? Check out this sequence...
Something about these photos almost makes the Ghetto seem romanticised... and I guess there is something to credit the Ghetto. The worse the weather gets, the better it looks!
